Assessment Services Supporting ELs through Technology Systems (ASSETS)
The ASSETS project is a four year grant funded by a U.S. Department of Education Enhanced Assessment Grant, through which WIDA, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and project partners will create a next generation, technology-based assessment system for English language learners. The system will be anchored in WIDA's English Language Development Standards that are aligned with the Common Core State Standards, will be informed by rigorous ongoing research, and supported by comprehensive professional development and outreach.
The project builds on WIDA's strong background in standards and assessment as well as the expertise of leading researchers in the field of testing, language acquisition, and professional development. WIDA will continue as a consortium after the grant period and will work closely with member states to ensure a smooth transition to the new assessment system.
