About the W-APT™

The purpose, history, and components of the W-APT™ are outlined in this brochurepdf.

The WIDA ACCESS Placement Test (W-APT)™ is modeled after the ACCESS for ELLs® secure assessment, but they differ in several important ways. Comparing W-APT and ACCESS will help you understand the structure and purpose of each test.

Please note: Version 2.3 (2007) of the W-APT™ was released on August 31, 2007. Version 2.2 (2006) will remain valid, as there are no significant changes to the test itself.

Differences to the 2007 version include:

  • Revised Test Administration Manuals
  • Grade level specific scores instead of grade level cluster specific scores
  • Procedures for group administration (individual administration still advised)
  • Modest enhancements to the graphics and test items
