How do I gain access to view and/or download W-APT screener materials?

Your W-APT username and password are required (this is a district-wide login, not your personal ACCESS training login). If you don't know your district's W-APT username and password, please contact your district superintendent's office. If it's not available there, contact Boon Lee or Barry Pedersen at ISBE (see "Contacts" above).

How do I set up my account for the ACCESS for ELLs Test Administrator Training Course?

    Use the Account Creator.

    You will need:

    • Your name as it appears in ECS

    • Your IL Educator ID Number (IEIN)

    • Your state's Account Creator username and password

    • Your email address

For information about your name and IEIN, contact the Educator Certification System at ISBE, http://isbe.net/ecs/. For your username and password, contact your ACCESS Test Coordinator for your district or Chicago 299 School, or Boon Lee or Barry Pedersen at ISBE (see "Contacts" above).

Am I required to take the test administrator training quizzes to become approved to administer the ACCESS test?

    Yes.

Do I need to retake the training quizzes if I passed them in a previous year?

No, but review of the training course is strongly recommended, particularly the speaking portion.

Do I need to show proof of my passing quiz grades (80%) from previous years?

Yes. Illinois educators, who have successfully completed the training course and quizzes and who registered with their IEIN, have their certification noted in the ISBE-ECS. It is updated monthly.

Illinois teaching assistants and paraprofessionals may NOT administer the ACCESS or the W-APT™ even if they hold a teaching certificate. Test administrators must be employed as certified staff.

To determine eligibility for ELL program support based on W-APT™ or WIDA MODEL™ for Kindergarten scores in the state of IL, please refer to the updated Program Eligibility page on the ISBE website.

Please contact the ISBE contacts listed at the top of the page with any questions about eligibility.

New W-APT Scoring Sheets for grades 1-12 were posted in the W-APT section of this website on January 12, 2010. These new scoring sheets offer direction for calculating Literacy and Oral Composite Proficiency Levels. Please e-mail help@wida.us if you have any questions or concerns about their use.
