FAQs: WIDA MODEL

How can I prepare to administer WIDA MODEL?

Test administrators should review the test administration manual, training CD-ROM, and DVD. There is not an online training course for WIDA MODEL. Formal training opportunities are available through WIDA's professional development workshops.

When should WIDA MODEL be administered?

WIDA MODEL can be administered at any time during the school year (a maximum of two times per year) depending on the needs of the district, school, teacher, or student.

What grade-level form should be used?

For students in the first semester of the first year in a grade-level cluster, WIDA recommends administering the lower MODEL form. For example, students in first semester of sixth grade should take the grades 3-5 form. This recommendation is based on the fact that students just entering a new grade level have not been exposed to the language proficiency standards and content topics at the beginning of the school year.

What is the difference between Student Response Booklet: Writing Task 1 and Student Response Booklet: Writing Task 2?

The only difference between the booklets is the writing prompt. Some schools use MODEL two times per year. This allows the test administrator to present a different writing prompt to the student.
