Facilitator's Retreat for the WIDA English Language Development Framework (formerly known as ToT)

Audience: Educators/Leaders who will facilitate workshops or share resources with other educators in their educational settings

This workshop is provided at three different levels depending on the amount of support provided to participants after the face-to-face workshop. This interactive workshop is based on a student-centered, teacher-focused approach to engage participants in a variety of facilitation techniques that they can replicate for educators of ELLs to better understand academic language development.

  • Most participants will feel ready to facilitate at a local level if they take advantage of the office hours but some may need more support

  • Participants will receive an in-depth study of the Standards Framework with suggested facilitation for each part of the framework.
  • Participants will receive time to practice facilitation during the face to face component and through customized facilitation assignments
  • Participants should feel ready to facilitate at a local level after completing all aspects of the Retreat

Pricing

For State Educational Agencies purchasing with Professional Learning Units (PLUs)*:

  • 1-day workshop: 2 PLUs
  • 2-day workshop: 3 PLUs
  • 3-day workshop: 4 PLUs

To have a workshop repeated in a different location it needs to be within a two hour drive.  The charge will be 1 PLU.
*Professional Learning Units (PLUs) are awarded to State Education Agencies that are members of the WIDA consortium.

For State Educational Agencies purchasing professional learning above and beyond their PLUs:

For all other entities:
$5000 for the first day and $2500 for additional consecutive days

Price includes facilitator time, travel expenses, lodging, and meals

Hosting Requirements

  • Secure meeting space, including A/V equipment
  • Provide handouts
  • Communicate logistics with participants
  • Ensure a minimum of 12 participants
