For the 2017-18 school year, Alaska's English learners in Grades 1-12 will take either the paper-based or online ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 assessment. The online assessment has many advantages such as:

  • Increased student engagement
  • Built-in accommodations and accessibility features
  • Increased ease for teast administrators (no need to determine tiers in advance).

With the online version, multiple grades and tiers can be administered concurrently.

Note: Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs and the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs will remain paper-based tests.

WIDA has developed checklists to provide specific information to support test preparation and administration for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 for the 2017-18 school year. These checklists are for the following roles:

  • Techology Coordinator – Responsible for all technical and system set-up for onling testing
  • Test Coordinator – Responsible for the overall coordination or test administration activities in their district
  • Test Administrator – Responsible for administering ACCESS for ELLs 2.0

What type of training is available for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 specific to the three roles of test administration?

Training, webinars, and manuals are available on the website. Recorded webinars are also available on the website.

Note: Test administrators must re-certify annually to administer the assessment.
