How do I gain access to view and/or download W-APT screener materials?

Your W-APT username and password are required (this is a district-wide login, not your personal ACCESS training login). If you don't know your district's W-APT username and password, please contact your District ESL Coordinator or DE Title III Department.

How do I set up my account for the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Test Administrator Training Course?

Contact your District ESL Coordinator or DE Title III Department for help setting up your account.

Am I required to take the test administrator training quizzes to become approved to administer the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 test?

For Kindergarten and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs, there have been no changes for the 2015-16 testing year. It is encouraged that you refresh before administering the assessment.

For grades 1-12 Online and Paper there are Checklists that are required to complete. For the Paper test administration, a Speaking quiz is also required. You must receive a passing score of 80%.

Log In to view the appropriate Checklists and to take quizzes.

Do I need to retake the training quizzes if I passed them in a previous year?

For Kindergarten and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs, there have been no changes for the 2015-16 testing year. It is encouraged that you refresh before administering the assessment.

Do I need to show proof to my ESL District Coordinator of my Checklist/s completion and quizzes?

No. District ESL Coordinators are able to view all quiz scores and completed Checklists within the course, so no paper copy is required.

1. Will Delaware be administering online or paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 in 2016-17?

Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, Delaware's English Language Learners in grades 1 - 12 will take the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 online assessment. The Delaware Department of Education requires ELLs be administered the online version except in cases where online testing is not technologically feasible or as an accommodation. If there is a reason a district will need to consider the paper version (i.e. district lacks the necessary technology infrastructure for a successful administration), a district must contact Terry Richard at terry.richard@doe.k12.de.us at the Delaware DOE for permission.

The online assessment is appropriate for most of Delaware's students and provides many benefits: increased student engagement, built-in accommodations and accessibility features, and ease of use. With the online version, multiple grades and tiers can be administered concurrently. In addition, Test Administrators will no longer need to administer and score the Speaking test one-on-one.

Note: Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs and the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs will remain paper-based tests.

2. Will 4th and 5th grade ELLs on the Writing test respond by handwriting or keyboarding?

Delaware's 4th and 5th grade students will respond by handwriting their responses to the Writing test.

3. What type of training is available for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 for the three roles of those participating in delivery - Test Administrators, Test Coordinators, Tech Coordinators?

WIDA has developed checklists to provide specific information to support test preparation and administration for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 in 2016-17. These checklists are for the following roles:

1. Technology Coordinator - responsible for all technical and system set up for online testing

2. Test Coordinator - responsible for the overall coordination or test administration activities

3. Test Administrator - responsible for administering ACCESS for ELLs 2.0

Administrators of the paper-based test should note that if they are scoring Speaking, they will need to complete a new Speaking scoring test that outlines new scoring procedures.
