Do I need to retake the training quizzes if I passed them in a previous year?

For those administering Paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0, the Speaking quiz must be retaken every year.

For those administering Online ACCESS for ELLs 2.0, Kindergarten ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS, it is recommended that test administrators refresh with available online training as suggested by WIDA.

What type of training is available for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0?

All training materials are available virtually through web-based modules and online resources in the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Training Course.

  1. Will Maine be administering online or paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 in 2017-18?
    Except for Kindergarten, which will continue as a paper-based kit, ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 will be an online assessment in Maine. If there is a reason a district will need to consider the paper version (i.e. district lacks the necessary technology infrastructure for a successful administration), the Maine Department of Education (Maine DOE) must grant permission. Contact or For individual students go to: Individual Student Paper Test Request ACCESS 2.0 The Maine DOE will assume any school not submitting a written request will be delivering the assessment online.

  2. Will 4th and 5th grade ELLs on the Writing test respond by handwriting or keyboarding?

    Maine's 4th and 5th grade students will keyboard their Writing responses.
