How do I gain access to view and/or download W-APT screener materials?

Your W-APT username and password are required (this is a district-wide login, not your personal ACCESS training login). If you don't know your district's W-APT username and password, please contact your district facilitator.

How do I set up my account for the ACCESS for ELLs Test Administrator Training Course?

Please contact the WIDA CLient Services Center ( | 1-866-276-7795).

You will need to provide:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your state and district

Am I required to take the test administrator training quizzes to become approved to administer the ACCESS test?

Training quizzes are required for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 for the following: Kindergarten, Alternate ACCESS for ELLs, and Paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 (Speaking). Test administrators administering these assessments are required to pass the training quizzes (80%) to administer the ACCESS test and W-APT screening tests. Log In to take the test administrator training quizzes.

Test administrators, district test coordinators, and technology coordinators must complete the appropriate Checklists and pass certification tests associated with those Checklists.

Do I need to retake the training quizzes?

Test administrators and technology coordinators must take and pass the training specific to ACCESS 2.0 if they have not done so already, except for the Kindergarten and Alternate ACCESS. Training for Kindergarten and Alternate ACCESS have remained the same, so individuals who have passed the Kindergarten and Alternate ACCESS quizzes in the past (80%) do not need to retake them.

Do I need to show proof of my passing quiz grades (80%) from previous years?

  1. Will New Jersey be administering online or paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 in 2017-2018?

Except for Kindergarten, which will continue as a paper-based kit, ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 will be an online assessment in New Jersey. If there is a reason a district will need to consider the paper version on a student-by-student basis (i.e. low computer literacy for students) the district can order the paper version through WIDA Assessment Management System (AMS). During the ordering process, districts will be able to indicate which test will be paper-based and which tests will be online. Test coordinators will receive log in information for the WIDA AMS system in the fall.

  2. Will 4th and 5th grade ELLs on the Writing test respond by handwriting or keyboarding?

New Jersey’s 4th and 5th grade students will keyboard their Writing responses.

  3. What type of training is available for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 for those participating in delivery?

Training for the ACCESS for ELLs assessment will no longer have Checklists or a Preparation page.  The ACCESS for ELLs Training Course, which includes certification for the following four tests is available on the WIDA website by logging into My Account and Secure Portal:

    • Alternate ACCESS for ELLs
    • Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs (which includes a quiz for the Speaking test)
    • Online ACCESS for ELLs 2.0
    • Paper ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 (which includes a quiz for the Speaking test for grades 1-5 and grades 6-12)
